Protege Wireless Lock modes explained
Available as a Motorized Deadbolt or Cartridge Mortise lock with optional finishes and accessories, this apartment security solution means you can deliver electronic locks without needing to invest in inconvenient wiring or worrying about online connectivity.
A key benefit of electronic locks is that they can be programmed with various “modes”, so they can meet a variety of needs and lifestyles.
What are lock modes?
A lock mode is a software program that dictates the behavior of a wireless lock – there are different modes available for the different locks.
Many combinations of the modes below can be applied to a Protege Wireless Lock. Please note that any schedule applied will override the programmed lock modes.
Standard
Standard is the default mode for the Cartridge Mortise lock out of the box. When a credential is presented at the lock, the door will unlock for a short time then relock – the default amount of time is 5 seconds but can be changed to the users' needs. No more worries about “did I remember to lock the door?”
Toggle
Toggle is the default mode for the Motorized Deadbolt lock out of the box. When a credential is presented at the lock it will toggle – if it’s locked, it will unlock and vice versa.
Office unlock
This mode allows users to have an open-door policy on the corner office or enable freedom of movement during the day, while keeping a secure premises at night.
When enabled, the user with appropriate rights holds the interior handle down and presents their credential at the lock – the lock will unlock and stay unlocked. To reverse this, the same user presents their credential at the lock and it will relock.
This mode is only available with the Cartridge Mortise.
Exit leaves unlocked
This mode is a legal requirement in certain places – like Canada – to avoid people accidentally locking themselves out of their apartments. By default, the lock stays unlocked until a credential is presented at the external side of the lock – we have added the option to set a time before the lock relocks after exit. Using the optional thumb-turn accessory, you can relock from the interior by turning the thumb-turn to extend the deadbolt. You can then rotate the thumb-turn back to retract the deadbolt while keeping the door locked.
This mode is only available with the Cartridge Mortise.
