ICTs secure credential is loaded into one sector, leaving the remaining sectors open to be encoded with credentials from other vendors. Proximity Solutions
On the surface, there is little visible difference between a 125kHz card and a 13.56MHz card. You present a card to a reader and access is either granted or denied. Not all proximity cards are born equal however, and there are some key benefits to implementing a smart one card solution.
While a standard 125kHz proximity card can be used to provide identification and building access, a 13.56MHz smart card offers a higher level of security, more convenience and far greater functionality with the additional storage space providing the ability to manage access, cashless vending, record storage, and many other functions much more securely.
Dual format cards and tags incorporate both high frequency (13.56MHz) and low frequency (125kHz) card inlays, enabling the same card to be used to access both low and high security doors. These provide a smooth migration path for organizations that wish to transition to smart technology at their own pace, as it means they don’t need to replace all of their card readers at once.
The data-on-card functionality offered through 13.56MHz technology enables offline locking systems to read, receive and write information via smart cards. Data is captured from cards at online hot spots located at strategic points around the building and the hot spot uploads and downloads user related information to the access control system. Changes are written to the card and quickly spread through the system as the card is presented at each offline lock.
Use proximity cards to securely print documents. Follow Me printing holds a user’s print job on a server until the user authenticates the job at a printer using their card or tag. This enables you to setup print jobs in advance, saves money by reducing the wastage of uncollected paper, and prevents potentially sensitive information from falling into the wrong hands.
