Protege WX and GX Release Updates Now Available

Protege GX software v.4.3.352.10 and firmware v.2.08.1543, and Protege WX v.4.00.2510 are now available. These updates bring performance improvements, feature enhancements, and new features.

New features

TSL Live over-the-network firmware updates

This upgrade lets you update TSL readers remotely through your controller's web interface. No more pulling readers off walls, rewiring, or scheduling system downtime. Your card readers keep working normally throughout the entire process and reboot briefly at the end to activate the new firmware.

Save time, reduce hassle, and keep your system running smoothly. View the release notes to see how to update your TSL’s and the prerequisites.

USB ethernet

Using a simple USB-Ethernet adapter you can now connect your controller's USB port to both wired and wireless networks.

Key benefits:
  • Reliable backup reporting: Maintain continuous communication even if your primary network fails
  • Remote access flexibility: Access the web interface from anywhere at anytime

New Specifications

There are also updated server and client minimum specifications.

Please note: These minimum specs are for new sites. If you have an existing site that is not experiencing issues, you do not need to upgrade. However, if you do experience performance issues then we recommend upgrading to the minimum supported hardware.

Server:
  • CPU:
    • 64-bit processor
    • 4 cores, 8 threads, 3.3GHz base frequency for 1-29 controllers
    • 6 cores, 12 threads, 2.5GHz base frequency for 30+ controllers
    • For new sites, we recommend selecting a CPU model that is no more than 5 years old at time of commissioning.
  • RAM:
    • 16GB for 1-29 controllers
    • 32GB for 30+ controllers
    • We recommend installing more RAM where possible.
  • Disk: 500GB
    • We recommend using an SSD, as it will give better performance than an HDD
  • Ethernet: 100Mb/1Gb
    • We recommend Cat5e or Cat6 ethernet cables
Client:
  • CPU: 4 cores, 8 threads, 3.3GHz base frequency
